Fugitive is excited to announce our collaboration with Rapscallion in beautiful, downtown Lawrence. Situated in a former mill building, this newest addition to the Rapscallion family of brew pubs offers a barroom, a staged performance space, and in good weather, a generous outdoor seating area. In addition to Rapscallion’s crafted beers, there will be handmade pizzas, sandwiches, salads, and more. Check back often as we’ll be adding dates regularly.

A Boston area singer/guitarist, Chuck performs solo and with his band, The Butler Frogs and has opened for touring bands America, The Wallflowers, and The Gin Blossoms. He was also a founding member of Northern Point (2005–2010), an acoustic trio from the NY/NJ area that released three albums (NovemberNorthern Point: Live at St. James' Gate, and After The Frost). In 2016, Chuck founded and hosted the award-winning podcast “Above The Basement — Boston Music and Conversation” which won a 2020 Boston Music Award for Podcast/Radio Show of the Year. After 200 episodes, Chuck shuttered the podcast and set out on his solo musical endeavor. He currently performs in the New England area and is always on the lookout for the lost songs that have influenced him over the years.

Matt Borrello is a traveling singer and guitar player with a repertoire of traditional folk, classic rock, and contemporary original songs. He performs his own songs and also offers energetic interpretations of classic folk, rock, and blues from the 50s, 60s, and 70s. He’s equally comfortable playing on coffeehouse stages, a rowdy bar, an intimate house concert, or an outdoor festival. John “Fitz” Fitzsimmons sings classic pub songs, timeless Celtic melodies, irreverent sing-a-longs, and some of the best, most eclectic, and sometimes just-plain-old-fun music and vocal harmonies you’ll ever hear. Fitz and his music partner of many years, harmonica wizard Hatrack Gallagher, are an award-winning staple of the New England folk music scene and between them have a repertoire of hundreds of traditional folk, country blues, classic rock, Celtic, and original songs that make every show fun and homey. Seth Connelly is a one-man band, just singing along with his guitar. A master of his craft. A guitarist and singer/songwriter who first picked up a ukulele at four then a guitar at six — Seth has shared the stage with bands and members of America, Little Feat, Roy Buchanan, Orleans, Jonathan Edwards, Judy Collins, and the Pousette-Dart Band. He’s been performing in the New England area all his life and has worked on recordings as an engineer and producer for 25 years in his own studio and other studios throughout New England. He plays solo, in duos, in trios and is regularly invited to sit in with bands and recording clients who are traveling through the area, accompanying them on a multitude of string instruments, piano, percussion, and more. 


Thursday, JULy 17

Lindsay Straw and Ben Truboff (“Almost Grown-Ups”) have immersed themselves in acoustic roots music for many years. As members of the Boston-based band “The New Grown-Ups,” tonight’s performers have appeared at many festivals and venues throughout the region. Mastering both bouzouki, and finger-style guitar, Lindsay has turned her efforts towards flat-picking. In addition to being a multi-instrumentalist, Ben focuses on powerful guitar solos and seamless singing. Their repertoire includes old cowboy, blues, and folk ballads and they perform an extensive collection of old ballads, folk songs, and fiddle tunes. Together they weave duo harmony singing, tight instrumentals, and flashy guitar playing into a fun show.

Vocalist Lori Zuroff performs with various rock, blues, R&B, and jazz bands in the Boston area. She has performed at Johnny D's, The Burren, The Mad Monkfish, and other venues from Boston to Worcester to Cape Cod and beyond. Lori headlines a jazz trio, she sings with the five-piece Lola Sweet Band, and sings in a Steely Dan cover band, The Nightflies. And she’s co-hosted popular blues jams in Acton and Maynard.

Charlie Berman is a guitarist, composer, and multimedia artist working in both Boston and New Orleans. He has performed with many artists including the late Mac Rebennack (Dr. John), Bobby Rush, James Andrews, and Rockin' Dopsie Jr. He is also the author of “Jam Theory,” an interactive Virtual Reality music education app for the Oculus Quest headset.


THURsday, july 24

Tomoko Iwamoto, "jazzy" violinist, has been in Boston jazz scene for more than 30 years. She is a band leader of “440 Gypsy Jazz Quartet,” presenting her virtuoso violin performing skills and creative arrangements and compositions in gypsy jazz style. On her recent European tour, she performed at the Django Festival Portugal in Lisbon. Craig Ball, swing clarinet player — leader of the White Heat Swing Orchestra — noted, "Tomoko is the best violinist in the area I've ever heard." Her new project “Gypsy Electro” presents modern interpretations of traditional gypsy jazz tunes, featuring acclaimed gypsy jazz guitarist, Bruno Peterson and popularly demanded bassist, Greg Toro.

Molly Flannery and Anna Callahan are playful, accomplished musicians who love jazz and Brazilian standards and the freedom of improvisation. Molly is a pianist, composer, arranger and band leader.  Starting her performing career in Japan, she settled in Boston in the mid-80s. She was the keyboard player for Cosmos Factor, a popular world beat dance band and headlined the Molly Flannery Quintet which played in a variety of venues including The Willow, The Western Front, The 1359 Club, and Ryles. She released her first CD in 1999, her second in 2004. Her third album appeared in 2022, featuring  Haley Isadora on voice and explored more Brazilian music as well as originals and jazz standards. Anna is a vocalist, trumpet player, arranger, and composer. She wrote a book on arranging for collegiate a cappella and performed in Los Angeles clubs and has released two CDs, in addition to scoring a dozen short films


THURsday, JULY 31

The Woodstock Festival is widely viewed as the most famous rock festival ever held. Although the show had been planned for a maximum of 200,000 attendees, over 500,000 eventually attended. The performers were some of the best of their time (and ever!) including Jimi Hendrix, Sly and the Family Stone, Country Joe and the Fish, Jefferson Airplane, and Creedence Clearwater Revival. Relive many of those musical moments of August 1969 plus a lot more from that time by Traffic, Carole King, Steely Dan, James Taylor, Neil Young, Al Green, The Beatles . . . and more. Performed by Lola Sweet: Lori Zuroff (vocals, percussion), Jim Medvedeff (keyboards, vocals, percussion), Al Garay (bass, vocals), Charlie Berman (guitars), and Jon Golden (drums,vocals).

Known among guitar circles for their work at The Music Emporium, Andy Cambria and Lindsay Straw also share a love for pithy, complex songs of the folk, bluegrass and Celtic persuasion. Blending harmony vocals and double guitars, Irish bouzouki and clawhammer banjo, and throwing in some old-time tunes for good measure, the duo loves tackling songs both traditional and contemporary — but there has to be a good story. Their music is sure to appeal to fans of folk duos like Gillian Welch & David Rawlings and the Murphy Beds.


THURsday, August 7

David Rubin is a multi-talented musician — guitarist, singer-songwriter, bandleader, producer, audio engineer, educator, and tonight, solo performer. A veteran of the Grateful Dead, Jamband, and festival scene throughout New England, David delivers unique solo acoustic shows that appeal to many audiences. His solo setlists weave together Grateful Dead and other Jamband tunes, classic Country/Folk Americana, Classic Rock, as well as occasional originals from his band “Daydream.” With his unique approach to improvisation and with the help of a looper, he brings these performances to life to create a dynamic and rich experience. His tribute act, Diamond Blues, has residencies in Greater Boston at both The Burren and The Midway Cafe.

Erin Harpe Country Blues Duo has been called “today’s country blues at its very best” by America’s oldest blues periodical Living Blues Magazine, who crowned Erin “one of the finest fingerpicking acoustic blues singers in the land!” A passionate purveyor of the vintage country blues and roots music she was brought up on, Erin has quickly become considered one of the premier acoustic blues pickers in the world today. Her international fanbase got a big boost recently, since she started posting her Fingerstyle Friday video series, the most popular of which surpassed 264K views in two months on Facebook. The duo features Erin on acoustic guitars, vocals, kazoo, and foot percussion, with her husband, Jim Countryman, on ukulele bass and backing vocals. The pair’s foot-stomping back-porch blues transports the audience to the delta, with catchy and danceable vintage classics. The act has been a hit everywhere from intimate venues to blues festivals, from the US to the UK and EU, to rum bars in Jamaica!

Ken Clark has been performing around New England and the eastern U.S. for the past many years. His technical ability joined with his natural feel for funk and soul makes for a great night out. He leans on the beat — high-stepping funk, shuffle boogaloo back beat ballad — building dynamic climaxes sprinkled with jazz. Clark delivers hip bass lines, sizzling chordal washes, feel-good riffs, and funky blues lines. His groove and sonic power reaches people, all the way from the church to the dance floor. “A must hear for fans of jazzy, funky groove music.” (Bass Player Magazine)

Vocalist Suzanne Buell brings her Memphis roots to the sound of the Time Traveler Trio. A former Stax Records recording artist, you’ll hear shades of blues, R&B, and gospel music in every song. Suzanne and her Memphis band opened for such legends as Edgar Winter and the Fabulous T-birds, and hosted one of the first Memphis Blues Competitions on Beale Street. She is a regular featured soloist with the Boston Pops Gospel Choir. Time Traveler’s founder/guitarist Steve Peisch is a lifelong songwriter and composer. His deep appreciation of many styles of music influence his compositions. Some of his most recent songs can be found on Spotify with Suzanne as lead vocalist. Paul Speidel on lead guitar adds the splash of color and depth to the sound, as well as some tasty harmonies. With 10 CDs to his credit, Paul has been critically received nationally. Artists he’s performed with include Danny Kalb (Blues Project), Patti Page, J. Geils, Duke Robillard, James Montgomery, and Toni Lynn Washington.
