THE Band
The Funktones celebrate the mid-century giants who gave us that unmistakable spring in our step and soul in our smiles. With deep respect for rhythm, feel, and authentic expression, the band puts its own spin on classics by Stevie Wonder, Al Green, Earth, Wind & Fire, the Isley Brothers, and more — it’s timeless music delivered with modern fire.
Darryl Butler (lead vocals) began voice lessons at the age of nine. With three decades of choral work and a lifetime of fronting bands under his belt, his voice carries the warmth of R&B, the agility of jazz, and the spirit of gospel.
Steve Gutherz (keyboards) is a versatile player fluent in mainstream and Latin jazz, fusion, and R&B. A true musical chameleon, he brings color, feel, and a few surprises — including the occasional blues harp cameo.
Dale Ellenberg (drums) lends his deep-in-the-pocket talents to a number of genres, includingcontemporary jazz, Dixieland, classic rock, blues, and funk.
Gabe Weiss (bass) found his way to the bass after experimenting with a wide range of instruments and styles — and once he landed on it, he never looked back. His playing anchors the band with steady low-end warmth and groove.
